Hai Girls,

Guess what? My exams are finally over – FREEDOM AT LAST! The feeling of relief and joy I had after finishing my final paper was indescribable. For those of you out there taking the A-levels… you know what I mean. At the same time, I’m also getting kinda nervous about how I actually did… now I have to start worrying about the results?!

First, I want to enjoy my break. I’ve had this really long list of things I want to do right after the exams: shopping, watching movies, going out with my friends… but I can’t help but feel another list creeping up in the back of my mind. Sure, I’m done with school but… what am I gonna do next? My friends are already talking about university, NS, jobs, careers?? When do we get our break, does work never end??

Ma was flipping through our old photo albums and I found a baby photo of myself –doing my trademark little pout, looking like I didn’t have a care in the world. Don’t I look cute?

I remember at that age I’d say stuff like “when I grow up I’ll be…”, or “when I grow up I wanna do…”. My childhood ambitions ranged from wanting to be a doctor to being a fashion designer or a princess (of course). I could dream about whatever I wanted to be because the future was still far away and full of promise. But now, it feels like the future is suddenly here!

It’s time for a reality check and a to have a long hard think about what to do next. In a sense this time is liberating too… I’m starting off my career from a clean slate… I could do anything I want… but what’s the right choice? Ugh… back to square one.

Pondering my future...

I would usually turn to my friends to discuss matters like these – I mean they’re the only ones who’d understand since we’re all going through this together… But, if everything else in our future is about to change then what’s the guarantee that our friendship won’t either? The boys will go off to NS and the girls will scatter into different colleges and industries. EVERYTHING is about to change! Sigh…

My heads starting to hurt with all this heavy real life stuff... But, that being said, these worries will be waiting for me tomorrow too right? So today I’m going to stop thinking and go shopping!!
