Hai
Girls!
Recently I’ve noticed that my
brother has become a complete party animal, dating many girls and coming home super
late… this just isn’t like him! I could see he wasn’t happy so I thought I
would try to get him back together with his ex. I had faith that maybe they
could work at their relationship and get past their problems once and for all.
Theirs was a classic Twilight
a.k.a. Kristen and Rob scenario: two people who are so totally meant to be with
each other but… aren’t. So last week I tried to stage a situation at Tanglin
Coffee House so they’d be forced to see each other. I figured maybe this would
start a dialogue and they’d realize what they’ve been missing this whole time! Unfortunately,
it totally didn’t work… and my efforts have probably made any chance of them
getting back together worse too!!
I shouldn’t have done what
I did, because the harder I tried to force something, the more it became clear
that it wasn’t my choice to make. Whatever happens between two people is
between them, and I should respect whatever decision they make, even if I don’t
agree with it.
After all, true feelings
can only be grown and nurtured, not forced. Each relationship and each person
is unique – you can plant the same seedlings, but each of them will grow to
become its own beautiful flower. And
as someone who cares and wants the seedling to flourish, what you need to do is
help nurture its journey with love, consistency, support and patience – not
dictate its path. So on that note, that’s exactly what we’re gonna do this week
– plant our own little seedlings in eggshells!
Here’s what you do:
1. Start off by gathering:
empty eggshells halved and rinsed, a recycled egg carton, pre-moistened seed
starting mix and of course your seeds (your favourite herb or flower)!
2. Place all your eggshells
halves in the carton.
3. With a spoon, add the seed
starting mix to each eggshell.
4. Now you can go ahead and
place a few seedlings in each eggshell.
5. With the seedlings in
place, lightly mist each one with a spray water bottle whenever needed over the
next few days.
6. Place the egg carton near a
window.
7. You’ll soon start to see
your seedlings emerge. Trim the weaker ones to allow room for the bigger ones
to grow.
8.
Once
your seedlings become bigger, you can gently crush the eggshell and plant the
whole thing into a bigger pot. The eggshell will act as added nutrients in the
soil!
Isn’t that cool? I hope you
give it a shot and be sure to tag me with photos of your seedlings on Instagram
@frufru.shru, looking forward to seeing them!
Until next time, mwah!
