Hai
Girls!
It
was my first week working as a personal shopper at Zalora and I can’t
believe I’m now officially a part of the daily working grind!
It’s
been an exciting change, but one that has come with its own
challenges… I’d always heard people complain about their bosses,
but I never imagined it would happen to me! Ah, my boss drives me
crazy sometimes… on my first day he spelled my name wrong and I
think he expects me to read his mind! Can you believe it? But
somehow, all of this just makes me want to work harder and prove
myself to him.
On
the other hand, there are some amazing moments and aspects about my
job too! I love being around the latest fashion and giving people
advice on what looks best on them. Plus, I get to buy gifts for my
friends at a staff discount! What could be better?
I
think the biggest lesson I’ve learned this week is that you really
have to give a new change in your life a little time to settle in.
More often than not, things fall into place naturally… At first I
was very frustrated by all the negatives, but I also realised that
every day I went home after work with a deep sense of satisfaction
from a job well done.
So
this week, I wanted to share some tricks and tips with you girls to
help you make the best first impression at work. Obviously you want
to assure your boss that they made the right choice by hiring you!
- Don’t be on time – be early! Show up 10 minutes before you’re supposed to clock in. It’ll let your boss know you take your new job seriously. So set your alarms… yes, I always set more than one!
2. Stay alert and be attentive! Make sure you give 100% when you’re on the clock. Don’t doze off or zone out… if you need to, get a strong cup of caffeine in the morning before work!
3. Take
the initiative! If you’re going to be spending your time doing
something, do it right and go beyond your job description! Your boss
will definitely notice your extra effort.
4. Smile!
And don’t forget your please, thank you, good mornings, and good
evenings. A little goes a long way and being courteous doesn’t
cost you a thing!
Finally, don’t be shy to say your
boss’ name when you speak with him. It shows that you’re
confident and sure of yourself! And get his name right, even though
he might not have gotten yours right! :P
Good
luck girls! Until next time, mwah!
Xoxo
