Hai
Girls,
Guess what time of the year
it is!!?? Yessss it’s the festive season, a.k.a. the end-of-year sale season!! I
love the month of December because Orchard Road is so beautifully lit up! The
decorations and lights totally set the mood for the festive season, and it’s
not a bad view while you shop either, so I can’t really complain hehe.
Our holiday feast! |
‘Tis the season for family,
for sharing and for giving. My family’s memories mostly consist of giving and
receiving presents (one jokey, one serious), and even doing our bit for
charity.
And yup, as kids, my brother
and I were convinced that Santa Claus was real and so we set up home-made traps
around the house on the eve of the 25th, waiting to catch him in the
act of delivering presents. One year, Pa had the crazy idea of dressing up as
Santa Claus to surprise me but he ended up scaring me half to death!! I wasn’t
expecting some burly guy with a beard all dressed in red walking around our
living room! I screamed sooo loudly and that was the last time we tried to
catch “Santa” and the first time I finally realised that Santa Claus was not
real.
Whether presents come from
the North Pole or my parents… they’re still presents so I’m not going to
complain. Especially this year’s present from my brother – a personal video
message from my favourite singer Adam Lambert!!! Ahhh! I never thought this
item from my bucket list would be crossed off so soon! Okay, technically I
didn’t meet him but this was pretty
darn close! Best Christmas present ever!!
These days, now that my
brother and I are both older, we use this festive period to spend time with our
parents, and to give them gifts that really represent how much we care for them.
It’s also our family tradition to spend a whole day watching movies at home
together!
So here it is, girls: the
Bhaskar Top Ten Holiday Movies – they aren’t necessarily movies about the
holidays, but it’s a list we can all agree on and there’s something for
everyone!
1. Breakfast at Tiffany’s
2. Die Hard (I know this is a
weird one but Pa loooves action films)
3. Home Alone (my childhood
favourite!)
4. Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (Ma
has to have her love stories…)
5. Dhoom:2 (I have to have my
Hrithik Roshan <3)
6. Fast and Furious 6 (or any
other number… my brother loves them all!)
7. The Matrix
8. Bourne Identity
9. Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya (of
course one love story in the list isn’t enough for Ma…)
1. Shrek (the one movie we all
love!)
That’s my list girls! Check
these movies out if you haven’t seen them before, and tell me which one’s your
favourite! Hope your holidays are safe and spent with loved ones, I gotta go watch
Adam Lambert’s video to me again! Until next time! Mwah!
