Hai
Girls,
So the last day of 2015 was
a very special one for me, as you know – it was my eighteenth birthday! I worked
really hard on my party by making sure the food, drinks, decorations and of
course my outfit were all in sync. I went with a black, white, silver and gold
colour scheme for the décor, picked a bold shade of purple for my dress,
ordered yummy finger foods from TCH and even made a music playlist that
transitioned from mellow to pop tunes seamlessly!
It was going to be a
perfect night and yet NOTHING went as planned… In fact the entire thing was
quite the emotional roller coaster. Almost no one had RSVP’ed, but I thought
that people would just show up anyway. Even my friends said they were going to
another party and I just couldn’t believe they would abandon me like that. Only
my dear Pa wanted to come to my party and I unfairly pushed him away at first.
Ugh, the irony… But I guess I could take this as my first lesson from adulthood: that most of the time things won’t go as planned, and
that’s just life, right?
But things turned out well
in the end! My true friends really did show up and of course my family came
through for me at the last minute – and whether I realised it or not at the
time, that’s honestly all I wanted anyway, to spend my birthday with the people
who truly matter. So yup – it was a great night after all!
So
this week I want to share with you a celebration nail tutorial. These are four
easy ways to make cheery and cute nails for any fun occasion! All you’ll need
are any three colours (such as blue, pink and silver), a toothpick, some cling
wrap and a bobby pin!
What you need for nail art |
Let’s
get started!
CUTE POLKADOTS
Cute polkadots |
1. Paint your nail a neutral
colour (I chose blue).
2. Next, pour out a bit of
your bright nail colour (pink for me!) onto a piece of cling wrap (so that it’s
easier to handle), and dip the rounded end of a bobby pin into it.
3. Using the bobby pin, dab
bright colour dots onto your nail. Easy!
EASY TEXTURE
Easy texture nails |
1. Paint your nail as you
normally would, with any colour you like.
2. Drop a couple of drops of
silver nail polish onto a small piece of plastic cling wrap, then scrunch it
up.
3. Lightly dab your nail.
Voilà! You’ve got a very cool “marbling” look.
CLASSY DIAGONALS
Classy diagonals |
1. I like to do this on my
pinky nail. First, paint it a bright colour (like pink).
2. Using a toothpick dipped in
your second colour (try a darker shade), draw two diagonal lines over the tip
of your nail. And that’s it!
BALLOON ART
Balloon nail art |
1. Start by painting your nail
a light or neutral colour.
2. Using a bobby pin dipped in
a bright colour, draw a little circle on your nail, positioning it off to the
side.
3. Add a little triangle just
under the circle.
4. Finally, dip a toothpick in
a darker colour and draw a squiggly line as the string for your balloon. There
you have it – a cute balloon on your nail!
I
hope you like these - they’re great for any celebration, whether that’s a
birthday or a New Year’s Eve party!
Until
next time, mwah!
Xoxo
