Hai
Girls,
One
of my closest friends, M, met with a very serious car accident this week. It
happened so suddenly that I still can’t fully comprehend the situation. I’m
sick to my stomach with worry, knowing that he’s lying in a hospital bed right
now, still comatose… and all I can really do is wait.
It
seems as if only overnight, everything in life has become so real. The days of me not worrying about
the serious consequences of my actions are long gone. When I look at my friends
now, I don’t see the JC buddies who didn’t have a care in the world but adults
who have responsibilities and who are accountable for their actions. And every
one of our actions can have serious consequences. Unfortunately with M, it’s a
matter of life and death.
I find
it hard to believe such an unfortunate thing has happened to such an important
person in my life. You hear about accidents happening all the time but it
becomes all too real when it happens to someone close to you. This entire week
has been so surreal and I’ll admit that it has taken me a while to fully
process everything that’s happened. I can’t even imagine what E must be going
through right now since M is family for him!
Now
that I’m 18, I’ve been thinking about
getting my driver’s licence. I’ve always thought about how convenient it would
be to go shopping with my girlfriends in the car or how fun late night drives
would be. However, M’s accident is a huge reminder of how big of a
responsibility being behind the wheel really is. Driving a car isn’t just about
fun or convenience. If you’re not careful, you could not only hurt yourself but
also others on the road around you – it’s a scary thought isn’t it?
Keeping
M in my thoughts this week, I wanted to give him something to remind him that
we’re thinking of him. I found the perfect picture of him, E and me
together from school. I can’t wait till
he’s better and I can give him the photo in person, as a reminder that we’re
behind him and that he’s never alone.
That’s
it for this week girls. Until next time, mwah!
Xoxo
