Hai
Girls,
Sometimes when you’re
trying to figure out things in your own life, you forget that your parents are
the best people to go to for advice since they have a lifetime of experience we
often overlook. I was reminded of this when I saw how Ma encouraged P when she
felt lost about what to study at university. Despite spending so much time with
P, I was blind to her artistic talent yet Ma picked up on it immediately!
I guess I’ve not been that
supportive a friend to P this week. I also let the words of someone whom I didn’t
respect get into my head. As a result, I blamed P for something I didn’t have
proof of her doing, and I turned out to be wrong. I really feel bad that I
didn’t have more faith in her as her friend.
I’m also embarrassed to
admit that even though I don’t really like alcohol, I ended up drinking at a
party just to fit in. Thinking about it now, it seems silly. But the fact is,
if I didn’t feel like drinking, I should have just said no.
I think the big lesson I learnt
this week is that I should stand up for what I believe is right and not succumb
to peer pressure or influence. This experience taught me that when you’re not
comfortable doing something and no matter how much someone is pressuring you…
it’s YOUR decision to say no and walk away. I guess you live and you learn.
This week, I want to share
with you a favourite mocktail recipe, to show you girls that you don’t need alcohol to have a good time.
In fact, some of my favourite drinks are mocktails, which not only taste great but
look beautiful too.
Here’s the recipe for one
of the most delicious mocktails I’ve ever had – a non-alcoholic Blueberry
Mojito:
1. 1 cup of puréed blueberries
2. 10 fresh mint leaves
3. 2 teaspoons sugar
4. Juice of half a lemon
5. Club soda
6. Ice
In a shaker, toss in the
mint leaves and sugar, followed by the blueberry purée and lemon juice. Shake
this mixture for thirty seconds and pour it into two glasses. Add the ice
equally into the two glasses. While stirring, top it up with club soda and
garnish with some mint leaves. And voilà! Your Blueberry Mojito mocktail is
ready and trust me girls, it’s absolutely heavenly!
That’s it for this week
girls, hope you enjoy this delicious and beautiful mocktail. If you try your
hand at making one, share it on Instagram and be sure to tag me @frufru.shru.
Until next time, mwah!
